Phones become virtual catapults for Fruit Ninja developer’s second AR release of the year
AUSTRALIA, Brisbane – December 6, 2017 – Launching globally today, December 6th, Siege Breakers is Halfbrick’s second augmented reality game to hit the App Store this year, promising a catapult-flinging, sheep-exploding, castle-crushing experience that will have players demolishing anything and everything in their path on iOS 11.
The aim of the game is simple: players must use their phones as virtual catapults to launch barrels and rockets at majestic stone castles, bringing them crashing down in destructive and dramatic fashion thanks to colourful 3D animations and explosive real-time physics. Clambering on household furniture and angling for strategic vantage points will become the norm for players seeking the perfect shot, and real-world surroundings will also play a key role in the game’s build mode, which can be accessed once the first five levels have been completed. Here, scalable AR technology will allow players to position structural objects, get creative, and build the castle of their dreams using materials collected from rare crates within the lively Siege Breakers universe. Siege Breakers is also one of two titles created during a recent game jam at Halfbrick Studios, a long-standing company tradition which paved the way for previous success stories such as Fruit Ninja, Radical Rappelling, and Bears vs. Art. "All of our game jams are focused on a specific genre, mechanic, or emerging technology, and this time around it was all about augmented reality," said Halfbrick CEO Shainiel Deo. "Anyone can pitch an idea. It doesn't matter who you are, what you do, or how long you've been at Halfbrick. The best ideas always find their way to the surface, and Siege Breakers blew us away when it was first presented to the entire company. ”Siege Breakers is now available as a free download on the App Store. An asynchronous multiplayer mode is also planned, giving players the ability to wreak havoc on user-generated castles and share their creations with the wider community.
Players can support Siege Breakers by registering their email address in the game or purchasing the Creation Pack. For additional information, please contact press@halfbrick.com.
