Legendary fruit-slicing game hits Steam Early Access with 20% launch-week discount
Brisbane, Australia – July 7, 2016 –
After six years and more than one billion downloads, the chart-topping fun of Fruit Ninja finally arrives on PC, bringing dual-wielding action and fruit-slicing mayhem to the HTC Vive for the very first time.
Three beloved modes from the popular mobile game (Classic, Arcade, Zen) have been carefully re-imagined for virtual reality, incorporating 360-degree movement to take full advantage of VR technology. In addition to the franchise’s signature slicing and dicing, Fruit Ninja VR will challenge players of every skill level by introducing a host of tricks and manoeuvres. Players can use the HTC Vive to wield two swords at once, juggle or skewer fruit, and swat away bombs with a simple flick of the wrist.
High scores will be tracked via global in-game leaderboards, while a range of Steam achievements will encourage seasoned veterans to test their skills like never before. Free updates will introduce customisable blades and costumes, new locations and characters from the Fruit Ninja universe, and a PvP battle mode which is currently slated for release in 2016.“Virtual reality gives us the freedom and power to implement some pretty amazing features,” said Adam Wood, Product Manager for Fruit Ninja VR. “This is still the Fruit Ninja our fans know and love, but the new gameplay mechanics make a world of difference.”
“Early Access is also a fantastic way to involve players throughout the game’s development,” added Nicholas Cornelius, Chief Marketing Officer at Halfbrick. “This is just the beginning, and we will continue to work hand-in-hand with the Steam community to make this a game that can stand the test of time.”
Fruit Ninja VR is currently 20% off on Steam for the next seven days. It will be available for $14.99 USD thereafter. Support for Oculus Rift, Google Daydream, and PlayStation VR is expected to follow later this year.
